COUNCIL CABS SERVICE EXPANDS Sixteen new suburbs will be added to the
council's elderly cab service over the next couple of months bringing
the total of suburbs covered to fifty four. An initiative of Gold Coast Mayor Ron
Clarke, elderly residents over sixty years of age can get a cab for a
nominal fee of $4 round trip. Contact Gold Coast City Council for

locals are being asked to report past and current sightings of platypus
for a programme aimed at helping the legendary amphibious mammal. Anyone
wanting to report a recent sighting, or wanting to become a volunteer
for the monitoring program can email the Wildlife Preservation Society
of Queensland platypus@wildlife.org.au or check out the website
